Toronto, December 14, 2012 – Elizabeth Witmer, Chair of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB), today announced the Order in Council appointments of Lynda Bowles, Alice Dong, and Scott Wilson as members of the WSIB’s Board of Directors.
“I am pleased to welcome the new members to the Board, and I look forward to working with them to help guide the WSIB’s transformation to a modern, accountable and sustainable workplace health and safety system,” said Witmer. “They bring additional expertise in financial governance, occupational health and worker’s compensation to our Board. This experience will be beneficial as we usher in a new era for the WSIB that will provide fair benefits and stability for injured workers and fairness and predictability for employers.”
Lynda Bowles, a FCA, has specialized in Audit, Governance, quality reviews and Financial Advisory Services over a 33 year career. Her appointment is effective for a one-year term from November 14, 2012 to November 13, 2013. Ms. Boyles is currently a Director of both the West Park Health Care Centre and the Technical Standards and Safety Authority.
Dr. Alice Dong is an Occupational Health physician with professional expertise in the public and private sectors. Her appointment is effective for a three-year term from October 17, 2012 to October 16, 2015. Both Canadian and American Board-certified, Dr. Dong has training and practical experience in Health and Safety, Disability Management and Return to Work.
Scott Wilson is Executive Director of the Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge Injured Workers Group. His appointment is effective for a one-year term from December 5, 2012 to December 4, 2013. For over ten years, Scott has provided peer support and guidance to injured workers and has been an active contributor to WSIB issues. A former glazier metal mechanic for over 20 years, he suffered a severe injury in 1999. Scott is currently pursuing his Paralegal accreditation.
